Coatings & Inks

Dispersants, defoamers and wetting agents for coatings, paints and printing inks.

Why coatings and inks need surfactants

Coatings, paints and printing inks are complex dispersions — pigments, binders, water and additives that must stay uniform from manufacture to application. Surfactants control pigment wetting, levelling, foam and substrate wetting; getting them wrong shows up as craters, fish-eyes, poor gloss or unstable dispersion.

Our polyether and nonionic components are used where defoaming, levelling and wetting matter most — water-based systems where foam and surface tension are the main enemies of a clean film.

  • Defoaming components to prevent foam and pinholes
  • Levelling agents for smooth film formation
  • Wetting agents for pigment and substrate coverage

Environmental regulation is pushing coatings toward water-based, low-VOC systems, where foam and surface-tension problems become more visible. A robust wetting and defoaming package is therefore part of formulation from the start, not a retrofit, and consistent supply matters across large tinting and production runs.

Application examples

  • Water-based coatings — Random Polyether BPE-1600 provides defoaming, levelling and wetting in the can and on the substrate.
  • Printing inks — wetting components improve pigment dispersion and transfer, reducing skips and mottling.
  • Gloss and flow — balanced hydrophilicity in random polyether helps control surface tension for even flow and gloss development.
  • Equipment cleaning — polyether components assist rinse-off and keep lines clean between colour changes.
  • Industrial coatings — consistent wetting and defoaming support large production runs and colour-matching programs.
  • Finishes on porous substrates — polyether wetting components improve penetration and film uniformity on wood and concrete without craters or fish-eyes.

How to engage our team

Getting from inquiry to production batch is a four-step process:

  • Send your application, target market and required volume through the inquiry form.
  • Our technical team shortlists the relevant grades and confirms regional suitability.
  • Free 500 g to 1000 g samples are shipped for evaluation; the buyer covers freight, deductible from a future bulk order.
  • Once validated, we confirm pricing, lead time and shipping for volume supply.

Frequently asked questions

Can I request a coatings additive sample?

Yes — free 500 g to 1000 g samples are available for evaluation. The buyer covers freight, and the sample value is deducted from a future bulk order.

Do you supply defoamers for water-based coatings?

Random Polyether BPE-1600 serves as a defoaming, levelling and wetting component for coatings and industrial cleaning. Share your resin system and application method so we can confirm suitability.

Which grades suit printing inks?

Polyether and nonionic wetting components support pigment dispersion and transfer. Confirm your ink type — water-based or solvent-based — with our technical team for a shortlist.
